Hello! I’m Dana Orr, a long time resident of the New River Valley. I don’t just sell homes; I sell the New River Valley. It is a great place to live and work, with friendly neighbors and an active community. Transitioning into our area is so easy. You’ll find complete strangers smiling at you at the mall, and ole’ time farmers giving you a nod as you pass on the road. I’ve lived here for over 30 years, and have been selling real estate for the last 12 years. Our son, who is now 25, and married, went through the public schools in Blacksburg. As a former volunteer at the schools (and former soccer Mom extraordinaire), I have first hand knowledge, and would be happy to share my experiences. Our son graduated from Va Tech, and I know the student housing market well. If you are looking for a person who knows the New River Valley market, then I’m your agent! I’m FAST to respond to your calls, and promise same day response. I work week-ends, nights, and sometimes Holidays! Here’s what one of my clients had to say: We're Glad We Had Someone Like Dana "We met Dana at an Open House and even at this first meeting we were impressed by her personality and eagerness (without being aggressive) to answer questions. I always thought we were dragging out our choices, but Dana was so patient and always upbeat and cheerful. We're glad we had someone like Dana to help us find our home. Accepting An Offer >Responding to Low Offers
The beginning of negotiations is usually the end of many months of hard work for the buyer or seller. The work ahead requires skill in order to maintain a strong position.
Sellers can lose their advantage if they do not counter an offer that a buyer has made. Even if the opening offer is beneath what the seller feels is reasonable, it is advisable for the seller to respond with a slight reduction from the asking price. The most important component in negotiating is good communication.
The best way to handle a low offer is to counter it with definite terms that are favorable to the seller. A counter offer has two advantages: 1) it keeps the buyer interested, and 2) it moves the negotiation forward and gives the buyer the opportunity to submit another offer that the seller is more likely to prefer.
