Blacksburg United Methodist Preschool has been encouraging kindness and creativity for over 50 years. Established in 1949, the preschool is located in the Education Wing of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church on Church Street in Downtown Blacksburg. The Preschool provides a half-day program from 9:00 - 12:00 noon from September through May. Three and four-year-old students may attend classes 2 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday), 3 days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), or 5 days (Monday - Friday). Tuition is reasonable and scholarships are available.

The Preschool's caring qualified staff is proud to provide a happy, safe, learning environment in which children can develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically. B.U.M.P. values play as one of the most important means of learning, and encourages children to create, imagine, and explore their world through art, music, dance, literature, scientific discovery, outdoor adventures and dramatic play. During free play children are allowed to participate, explore and choose activities according to their own interests and developmental levels. Carousel Learning Center has been a childcare facility in the community for 25 years. Our family has owned Carousel Learning Center for 16 years. We try to be a warm, friendly and safe environment for children to grow, learn and make new friends. Our present facility of 11 years is located in the Hethwood area of Blacksburg. As a state-licensed facility, Carousel Learning Center provides quality care for an age range of infants up to 12 years of age. The Children's Nest opened in October 1995 to serve the childcare needs of Blacksburg and the greater Montgomery County. The center was founded and built by a group of dedicated parents and Ms. Gulbun Esen, the Director, in an effort to create a unique, comforting and stimulating "nest" away from home for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The Children's Nest was created through the enduring vision of many citizens in the community whose support and efforts culminated in the successful completion of our 122-child capacity state-licensed center.

The Children's Nest serves children from six weeks to twelve years of age. We offer separate rooms and programs for each age group. We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment along with educational activities for all age groups. Van transportation is provided, for elementary school children, to and from all of the major elementary schools in Blacksburg.

The staff at the Children's Nest consists of loving and dedicated individuals with training and experience in Early Childhood Education and Development. We emphasize the development of a collaborative relationship between the parents/guardians and staff members in order to meet the needs of "our" children in consistent and caring ways.

Our newly built spacious center is approximately 5900 square feet nestled in 3.3 acres of land. The Children's Nest is located in a quiet neighborhood, it has two outdoor playgrounds and plenty of space for children to run and play

Mt. Tabor offers full and part-time day care, as well as a three mornings per week 3 and 4-year-old preschool program. We are state-licensed and provide USDA approved, nutritious meals at no extra charge. Our hours are from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Located on five acres in a beautiful country setting, we are just one mile off North Main Street in Blacksburg. Our program includes kindergarten readiness activities, art, crafts, games, songs and Bible stories. We accept children from the age of 6 weeks until 12 years of age.

Our school age program includes before and after school care, including transportation to and from school, as well as a summer camp. Our rates are $115 week for full time, $90 per week for part time for ages 6 weeks to 2 years. From age 2 to 5 the rate is $95 for full time and $80 for part time. Our part time pre-school is $95 per month and includes lunch! Our summer camp is $95 per week. Before and after school care is $55 per week, and includes early release days. For an additional charge of $10 per day, children may stay here on snow days or school holidays. Before school only is $25 and after only is $40. Noah's Ark is a ministry of the Wesleyan Community Church, which provides quality childcare in a loving Christian atmosphere. Our classes range in age from six weeks to five years of age. We have a Pre K program during the school term from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Monday thru Friday. There is both full and part-time daycare for all age groups.

Our staff is very carefully selected because we know that they are the key to your child's emotional, developmental, and spiritual growth while at Noah's Ark. All of our teachers are Christians, who are committed to serving Christ in their own personal lives, which will show forth as they teach your children.

Rainbow Riders Childcare Center opened its doors and its arms to children on August 26, 1986. Since that time we have provided care for children ages six weeks to twelve years. Rainbow Riders is licensed by the State of Virginia and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our full time program opens at 7:15 and closes at 5:45 each day, Monday through Friday. Our school-age program provides before and after school care through the school year, including early releases, teach workdays and snow days. During the summer, our schoolers enjoy weekly camps with "mini-courses' and field trips several times a week. During the school year, we also offer a Morning Preschool Program, 8:30-12:30 for children 2½ to 5 years old.

In January 1999, we moved into our beautiful, new facility. This space was designed with our inspirations from the Reggio Emilia Approach to early childhood education. Natural light, comfortable spaces, and documentation of children's many experiences are visible throughout the buildings. Our teaching staff is professional, well trained, and enjoys working with children. Most have degrees in early childhood or related fields. Teachers are responsible for providing a creative, emergent curriculum reflecting the interests of the children. Families are involved in our program in many different ways including our nationally recognized PTA, book fairs, playground workdays, family socials, field trips and just spending time in the classroom.

St. Paul Pre-School, sponsored by St. Paul United Methodist Church, Main Street, Christiansburg, offers morning programs for three and four-year-old children. The flexible and informal schedule allows children the opportunity to develop self-confidence and social skills as they are exposed to a variety of readiness activities.

All children entering the pre-school must be one or two years from entering Kindergarten, and should be three or four years of age on or before September 30. The Three Year Class meets from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Four Year Class meets from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
