Noah's Ark is a ministry of the Wesleyan Community Church, which provides quality childcare in a loving Christian atmosphere. Our classes range in age from six weeks to five years of age. We have a Pre K program during the school term from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Monday thru Friday. There is both full and part-time daycare for all age groups.

The Blacksburg New School is a private elementary and middle school (K-8). Now in its tenth year, The Children's Garden Primary School offers morning half-day and full-day pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs for four and five-year-old children and a full-day primary program for six through eight-year-old children. Small classes are important in implementing our philosophy of learning. The pupil-teacher ration of eight-to-one enables the teacher to care for the needs of the individual child within the framework of a stimulating peer group. The close relationship between teacher, child and family provides the caring atmosphere essential in the development of a true joy of learning.

Academic lessons are presented to individuals or small groups based upon each child's readiness, ability and interests. Hands-on activities, projects with a purpose, peer tutoring, and manipulatives are all employed in realizing our teaching philosophy. Each child is challenged, encouraged and nurtured.

Community Christian Academy, an independent Christian School (located on Route 11 North, just off of I-81 at exit 118), was established in 1983 to provide quality Christian-based education for families in our community. Gateway Christian Academy is a non-accredited private school that has been serving the area since 1976. The school was founded by the pastor and members of Gateway Baptist Church in an effort to offer solid academics with a Christian environment.

We have classes for children K-5 through twelfth grade. Kindergarten through grade six uses Abeka curriculum from Pensacola, Florida. Grades 7-12 use the A.C.E. curriculum from Lewisville, Texas.

Our students have a dress code, monthly scripture to memorize, daily devotions in their classroom and chapel services once a week.

St. Mary's Catholic School is a private Catholic school serving families in the New River Valley who want an alternative to public school for their children. We are licensed through the State of Virginia and are part of the Virginia Catholic School Association, which serves over 9,000 children. We follow strict curriculum guidelines, which include the core subjects taught at advanced levels. We also teach foreign language and have a very nurturing environment for the child and the whole family.
